Dear Ms.Mia Hamm.
First of all,
I want to tell you that I am writing to you because of my friend Noam. She loves soccer and is a huge fan of yours, and I want to say happy late birthday from Noam. Well, ever since I started 5th grade, I've been hearing that it is better to give then it is to recieve, this year all I've been doing is recieving from Noam and never got a chance to give her back. So I want to give her a huge gift. Well, even though it's only if you accept it. Will you write a e-mail to noam?
on my e-mail address?
I'll wait for your letter back.
Good Bye.

Hi!
I am a huge fan of yours. I was wondering if you could help my soccer team! No, seriously. Do you have any tips? We have a lot of good players, but we also have more players that have very little or no experience. I get so frustrated when they make beginner mistakes! If you have any playing tips, PLEASE EMAIL ME! Thanks.
Katie

Dear Mia Hamm,
Let me tell u a little bit about myself I love soccer my dream is to be on the world soccer team. If I could choose one person to meet in the world it would be you!! You inspire me to do my best. This summer I went to North West Soccer camp I met Pam I forget her last name but she played soccer with you for seven years. I have poster after poster of you. Every time I look at them I think “one day I am going to be that great”. At soccer camp there was a lady that coaches for the North West nationals she said I was a “stud” and that I should try out for her team. That made me feel really good inside. On my computer I have a picture of u on my desktop. It is of your team wining the world cup. This picture is not it but I have to say this picture is a classic. It is my dream to sit with u and your team on the sidelines at a game. Or even just go to a game. Please I am bagging you to write me back. My address is 13409 35th AV. Ct. NW. Gig Harbor Washington 98332 or my e-mail is fcgirl@comcast.net FC stands for football club!!! I really want to meat you. My assistant soccer coach last year was Bruce Snell I think You know him. And his daughter Alison Snell met you. It would mean a lot to me if I could hear from you.
Sincerely,

Mia,
I know you hear this a lot- Oh Mia you are the best soccer player in the world!I want to be just like you!- so i am not going to say any of that. I do like you because of all that, but there's stuff i see in you that i don't see in a lot of people that i like- you never give up. When Japanese or any other country tries to purposly hurt you, you don't even flinch. You ignore the pain and think about your goal. Also, I don't want to be the exact same kind of soccer player as you when i grow up, don't get me wrong, it would be awesome to be the lead scorer of all time, but i don't want to be exactly like you. Becuase every player has a personallity on the field, and what fun would it be if everyone played exactly the same. I also would like to say that i know that to be some great soccer player like you, it requires a lot of hard work to reach your goal. I once was totally in a time of depression when my grandpa died, then i read your story about your brother Garrett in a Chicken Soup book, and i knew i had to pull through and keep living. Thanks, you helped me through some tough times.

Hi Mia,I just thought I would try this e-mail thing.Where do I start talking? well first i would like to say that you cant find a better soccer player than you, I mean Ure the best.I would like to tell you how I got to be such a fan. First of all I am 13 and have been playing 4 a long time. every coach has to yell my # out for kids 2 block me,and everyone on my team always says"Here comes the next Mia Ham on the feild." That there rang a bell that if I tried my hardest I could make it pro just like u.My old team was so good that we were elected to walk the flags on the feild for your team in Germantown,MD.If you could just call me for 5-10 min on the phone that would be the best ever, cause im going through some hard times @ skool. all my friens are ditching me, so i need someone to talk 2 pls!301-528-2694 I need some advice other than my parents. If thats to much to ask dont worry bout it k!

"Mia Hamm is the most celebrated player in women's soccer, but she is also known for her unfailing positive attitude, fierce competitive spirit and dedication to young people and her sport. However, in her first-ever picture book, Hamm explores a subject rarely associated with her--quitting.
Hamm draws on her own experience growing up as one of six very competitive soccer playing siblings. She would often quit a game rather than lose--that is, until her brother and sister refused to play with her at all. Eventually, she learned to stick with her team. Hamm now wants to spread the word to other young people and continue to get both girls and boys involved in team sports."

Dear Mia,
Hi my name is Kayci. I just wanted to write and say that I admire you. I am homeschool sophmore and I am from your home state! I love to play soccer. I play all the positions but goalie. I have a goal every season to score! You really inspire me to live out my dream and go for the college team in UNC Wilmington in 2 years. After I graduate I would love to be on the U.S.A. womens team. I pray for you everyday. I hope to hear from you soon. Keep doing the good work.
Posted by: Kayci Garrison | April 4, 2005 8:37 AM
Hey Mia! You are my all time hero in soccer. I've been playing soccer since I was 4 years old till now. I am 13 and in the 8th grade. I play every season and every postion, but I love defense and forward. I play for my School-Walton-Verona High School in Walton, Kentucky. I also played select for Klass. I went to one of your 2004 Fan Celebration Tour games, And You Rocked. I tried to get your autograph but you wouldn't come my way. I only go Aly Wagner's autograph. But thats ok. I really want to get better then I am right now. Know any tips for me? I also read in Language Arts, and I read a book on you and your life. Since then, Kristen(my friend) and I want to go to UNC for Soccer and maybe someday be a player on the US Womens National Team. That is my goal. I relize it will be tough but I'm going to try my hardest. I also want to say sorry. I read that book and saw on T.V. that your brother, Garret, died of a sickness he had. Sorry to hear about that. My email address is Soccer7748@yahoo.com I would VERY much appreciate it if you emailed me and gave me some tips. Nice talking to you but now I have to go do a couple miles on my bike and practice against wall. Thanx for being my hero.

Dear Mia Hamm,
Let me start off by telling you that I am a huge fan of yours!!! I get the official soccer magazine in the mail and whenever your in it put your article in the scrapbook I made about you. I know you probably don't like writing people back about thier questions but it would really mean a lot to me and my soccer team. I want to be a pro-soccer player some day. I am 12 years old and have been playing soccer for 9 years now. I was wondering what step I should take next to be an outstanding soccer player just like you?!! How do I become known outside of my township? Please write me back and I will be eternally greatfull. If you want to we can even keep in contact, but I understand if you don't want to keep in contact. But please at least answer this letter. My e-mail is j.deere@usol.com.

Hey Mia! You rock! Ijust don't know how to explain it! I just... I don't know what to say! I really really want to meet you! I'd probably faint if I did! You Rock! You... Your just awesome! I've read like every book on you! You are my inspiration. Whenever I'm tired and don't want to keep running I remember how awesome you are and how far you got by running and working out. You really inspired me.Almost every thing about you inspires me. You mever gave up evev in the worst of times when you were losing you drived your team to victory by believing in yourself and your teammates. I think that that is just incredible. Even though you were a shy girl you gave it all on the field. I especially am sorry about your brother. He sounded real cool in the books I read about him. Garrett sounded like a true friend/brother. I'm sorry. But, you know he'l always be looking after you up in heaven. When you get sad just think that Garrett is doing what he loves. He's in heaven he can do anything. He's playing socccer and all the other sports he loves. He's having a ball! I bet the only thing he's missing is you. I bet he's really proud of you right know. A lot of people are.I am. Whenever I see you play I get this awesome feeling in my stomach and up my arms. It feels geat. I just love to watch you play. To see that ball in the net and for the whole crowd to be cheering and clapping! Well got to go!! You are the best of the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mia Hamm,
My name is Arielle. Soccer is my favorite sport. I play keeper and right wing for my school's soccer team. I love to play soccer, but most of all I like to help people. I am on this team called the Ecybermission team at school. My group had to pick a topic that had to do with a community problem and help to find a solution. Our topic is "Disabled Kids And Their Fav Sports". We are going to help disabled kids who can't play sports, or think they can't play sports, to play their most favorite sports! We were wondering if you would like to be a part of this. Please email me back at basketballstar60@comcast.net with your answer! Please to consider it. It will be for a good cause and you will be helping kids in need of sports! Thanks for all of your time!
God Bless,
Arielle

Dear Mia,
You are amazing and incredible. I have always looked up to you as my rolemodel. Someday I also want to play for the U.S. women's national team and the U.S. olympic team. My mom keeps telling me that if I work hard enough that I will make it. I play on a soccer team called the Exodus Tri-City Express in Texas. We have four or five really good players, and then the rest of the team has almost no soccer experience whatsoever. Can you please give me some pointers as to what we should do to improve as a team and individually? Thank you so much for being my rolemodel. I was so sad when I learned that you had retired. Please help out my team. THANKS!!!
Love always,

Dear Mia,
I am a four-year-old girl and I am very excited about playing soccer. I just had my last soccer game of the year today and I am now very sad.
I asked my daddy why my hero Mia Hamm never came to one of my games, and he said that you are very busy with your family these days. Mia, I want you to know that you are my role model. I have your "Got Milk" Poster framed and hung on the backside of my bedroom door, so I can see it every day. I asked my daddy if I could meet you someday and he said that we would have to wait and see. Do you still live nearby the Washington, DC area or are you ever in this area? I really want to meet you and my mommy and daddy said that they would drive me anywhere within reason just so I can meet you and see you handle the ball. Are you really too busy or is it possible for me to meet you someday Mia? Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Saxon Cheyenne Knight

Let me say that if you are reading this, it’s a pleasure to have you even look at my comment. You are amazing female soccer player who I’ve admired since I was 9. I remember looking up to my sister when I was young and how she use to play soccer, which I’ve been doing since I was 5, and I remember her idolizing you so much, and of course wanting to be like my sister I started to have begun an interest in you.
When I was thirteen I had read every biography or book on you, thanks to my dad who’s been my coach for several years now, he likes to get me inspired to see how far you’ve come all these years playing soccer.
I think it’s amazing how your Mia Hamm foundation will be dedicated to raising funds and awareness for two very personal issues for you: research for bone marrow diseases and the encouragement and empowerment of young female athletes.
I admit sometimes I get discouraged and unfocused with my soccer team and whether or not I want to continue to play soccer, all I have to do is read some stories about you and how far you made it and it really does inspire me to want to play the best of my ability.
you're amazing, don't ever change.

Dear Mia Hamm,
I am a huge fan of yours! I just fell in love with your books. On my Christmas list the first thing i wrote was a letter from Mia Hamm or any other soccer player on the US team. I was also a ball girl for your former teamates team Brandie Chastain, but she couldn't make it for the game. My soccer team and I had lots of fun! i saw you talking at the NCAA with noterdaim and your former colloge north Carolina, and their coach Anson Dorrance!!! I truely do just love you and would love to hear from you!
